the memory: sacred groves, sacred nature
The Memory: Sacred Groves, Sacred Nature is a collaborative video project led by artist and cultural worker Oluwadara Ojugbele. It invites community members to create images that reflect their relationships with nature by responding to one another’s contributions within an evolving story, emphasizing cultural and ancestral perspectives. The project will culminate in a video that combines these images into a collective narrative, which will be screened at an outdoor program in NYC in the summer of 2026.
Events
On Thursday, September 17 at 6:30 PM, enjoy an evening of music and film under the stars.
A screening of Oluwadara Ojugbele and collaborators’ The Memory: Sacred Groves, Sacred Nature (2026) will be followed by a screening of Zoey Martinson’s The Fisherman (2024).
The evening also includes a live set by DJ Pr3tty P. Bring your blankets, snacks, friends, and family, and settle in for a night of music and African cinema in the park!
Please note: In case of rain, the screening will move indoors to the Brooklyn Public Library of Arts & Culture (10 Lafayette Avenue, Second Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11217). Be sure to register to receive any weather-related updates!
