Ride with delivery workers
Exploring the unseen lives of NYC’s Chinese immigrant delivery workers with an unflinching, intimate lens, filmmaker Jing Wang joins in their organized struggle for justice, but must weigh larger questions about the meaning of their story as conditions only worsen for immigrant gig workers, and an uncertain road lies ahead. The film is rooted in the authenticity of workers’ real-life stories and lived experiences, emphasizing their physical presence and the actual conditions of their labor. It is told through an emotional, first-person point of view that brings the viewer into close proximity with the world of immigrant delivery workers. The artistic approach is lyrical yet politically grounded, intimate yet expansive. It reflects the filmmaker’s evolving relationship with the workers and her deep commitment to exploring themes of survival, solidarity, and identity—framed within a broader critique of the American Dream.
