Gardening Angel: opening and walkthrough

May 2 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

“Gardening Angel” is a site-specific sculpture designed for installation in Jackie Robinson Park, representing growth and community prosperity. Standing approximately 58” tall, it features a black with iridescent bronze glaze ceramic figure, emphasizing positive change. Crafted with paper clay and stoneware, supported by a concealed metal armature, the sculpture depicts a life-sized figure with a waist-high opening serving as a vessel. The nuanced multi-toned bronze glazing process symbolizes resilience and growth, while vibrant blue hydrangeas planted around the sculpture represent gratitude for a flourishing community. To engage visitors, activities such as balloon flower performances will extend the sculpture’s message of growth, prosperity, and unity.

On May 2nd, the official walkthrough will start at noon in Morningside Park with artist Coby Kennedy and Deputy Borough President Keisha Sutton-James.
