Image courtesy of the artistTo celebrate 6+ years of our bulk food project, Kensington-Windsor Terrace Mutual Aid put together a trilingual cookbook (Bangla, Spanish, English), featuring recipes from neighbors who participate in this food project. The recipes were gathered during potluck events, on distribution days, and through one-on-one conversations between neighbors. The process led to many conversations about food cultures, ingredients, and what to make with the surprise set of vegetables we get in the box from our supplier, the worker-coop Lancaster Farms. The process of creating the cookbook took us deep into issues of language justice, connecting neighbors across language divides during times of attacks on immigrants and a food insecurity crisis exacerbated by cuts in federal benefits. The cookbook project culminates in a launch event in the Midwood office of DRUM (Desis Rising Up and Moving). No RSVP required.
